About The Store

Yarn Garden WindowYarn Garden (or YG, as we lovingly call it) was started by Kim Torkko in 2003. As a college sophomore, Lindsay was an intern for Kim at YG, and immediately fell in love with the business. And it just so happened that the stars aligned, and Lindsay was able to purchase the business from Kim in April of 2007. And that’s where our story really starts…

Lindsey PotterLindsay Potter is the owner of Yarn Garden, which means that she is the sales clerk, the teacher, the buyer, the accountant, the marketing executive, the human resources director… well, you get the picture. As a student at Albion College, she studied Economics and Management, and got to play in the Art Department. She’s been knitting since she was 16, when her mom bought her a kit to knit a felted bag. The kit used Noro Kureyon, and she’s been in love with Noro yarns ever since. In fact, she has a Sheltie named Noro! Green is her favorite color, and she has no particular favorite thing to knit. Her passion is empowering knitters to take control of their projects, and teaching is one of the ways she likes to do that.
