Ready to learn how to design your own shawl? Jen Lucas, author of the best-selling book, Sock-Yarn Shawls, will go through all the steps of designing your own sock-yarn shawl from start to finish. Students will learn to design a traditional top-down triangle shawl. Class will cover everything you need to know to create your design from the garter tab cast-on, inserting in the desired lace patterns you want to use, all the way to the bind off.
Knit/purl; cast on/bind off; increase/decrease; Must be able to read and follow a pattern and be comfortable with knitting from a chart.
Supplies to Bring
- 100 yards (375+ yards, if you want to continue knitting an entire shawl at home after class) of a
smooth, solid, light-colored fingering weight/sock yarn
- Different sized knitting needles for swatching (Needle sizes US 3, US 4, and US 5 are best; circular needles 24” or longer recommended)
- Tapestry needle
- 4 stitch markers
- Pencil with eraser and notebook or something to use for note-taking.
- If Desired: Stitch pattern of your choice – nothing too complicated. For example, a stitch pattern
with a 12 stitch repeat and 12 rows long would work great! Feel free to bring your stitch dictionaries too, if you like.
Class Fee: $115, payable by PayPal, cash or check in store.
