Lansing Area Stitch ‘n’ Pitch!

The masterminds at Yarn Garden and Woven Art are joining forces for another great event this summer. Join us for Ladies Night on Wednesday, August 15th as we host a Stitch ‘n’ Pitch at Cooley Law School Stadium. We’ll be cheering on Lansing’s own Lugnuts from under the safety of the Tailgate Terrace, just in case Mother Nature decides to bless us with rain again! For just $35, there will be a catered dinner, men in baseball pants, drink specials, a goody bag (with handmade stitch markers from Meg, among other things!), and a host of other Ladies Night activities. There are a limited number of tickets on sale NOW, so call soon to reserve yours!

Saturday, June 16th from 1p – 4p.

YG will be celebrating World Wide Knit in Public Day with a picnic potluck and knitting out on our front sidewalk. Our town’s local festival, Celebrate Charlotte, will be going on, with an arts and crafts fair going on across the street. Perfect for public knitting! YG will be providing hot dogs with all the trimmings, all we ask is that you bring a dish to pass to share with your fellow knitters. See you then!

Shop Local for Mother’s Day!

Shop area businesses this Saturday, May 5th, and be entered to win a grand prize basket featuring items and gift certificates from local shops and restaurants. Increase your odds for winning by stopping by as many businesses that day as possible, PLUS get entered to win a second chance prize at each location! YG’s second chance prize is a beautiful shawl pin from Annie Adams. Other participating businesses:

Wee One Welcome Set!

Just a quick announcement… we will be open for regular hours this weekend. Friday from 10 – 6, Saturday from 10 – 4. See you at the shop!

Another adorable model for YG… the Wee One Welcome Set from Chris at Knitting at Knoon. It’s a basic top down sweater, hat and booties. It’s a great pattern to have on hand when you need a baby shower gift! And I love the yarn… it’s Noro, of course. I know, I know… not the most practical for a wee human, but I couldn’t resist. This yarn, Ayatori, practically screamed at me that it needed to be a baby item. Who am I to resist??

Thumbs Up
Saturday, January 21st from 1:00 to 4:00
Fee: $20
Instructor: Jill Bigelow – Suttell
Description: Mittens are quick projects that are always in demand by family, friends and your local homeless shelter. They are easy too…once you master that pesky thumb. Thumb styles vary so one the thumb you are used to knitting may not be the one called for in the next pattern you want to knit. In this class, we will make 3 thumbs then compare and contrast them. You must be able to knit in the round but no mitten experience is necessary.

Basic Socks
Thursdays from 6:00p – 8:00p OR Saturdays from 1:30p to 3:30p
January 26th, February 2nd & 9th OR January 28th, February 4th & 11th
Fee: $40
Instructor: Lindsay Potter
Description: In this class, you’ll learn the basic construction of a sock using double-pointed needles and fingering weight yarn. This is a great way to get in the sock craze, but with one warning – once you start socks, there’s no turning back!
